Hey family! I’m trying something new and giving you some words from a friend of mine named Anderia. We were chatting and she shared this thought and I was like write it down and I’ll share with my peeps! Pray it encourages you.
Notes from the Sermon “Kingdom Connections”
The people we choose to connect to can greatly affect our lives in various ways. In Joshua Chapter 2, two spies have been sent to go view Jericho. The spies go to the home of Rahab. She is specifically identified as a harlot. I am glad she was identified this way so it may be reiterated that God’s loves is extended to everyone no matter who they are, nor the condition they may be in (spiritually, physically, financially, etc.), and He saves all who believe in Him. He can also choose to use anyone He desires. Rahab decided to connect with these two spies. She could have chosen to reveal where they were but chose to protect them by hiding them in her home instead. Rahab’s decisions to connect with these spies was indeed an act of wisdom because she had a true epiphany of who they were connected to. She told them in verse 9 that she knew the Lord had given them the land. She had heard of their God drying up the Red Sea for them and their victory over the Amorites. She stated that the Lord their God, He is God in heaven and above the earth. She believed even when she was not yet a “believer”. Glory to God! By this connection, Rahab, her family, and all that was theirs was spared. In her making a connection that counted, she is one of the five women mentioned in the genealogy of Christ. There is such great emphasis on being so well known or having an army of friends this day in time. Instead, there should be thankfulness for those God places strategically in our lives and for the armies of God’s angels! The quantity of people we are connected to will never trump the quality of the people that we are connected to, especially when they are connected to the Master Connector, Christ Jesus. Thank God for your friends even if they are few. It may be only one true, unwavering friendship like in the case David and Jonathan, but if that friend loves God and loves you as Jonathan did David as his own soul, your connection will truly count. For even when you leave this world, that friend may look for someone in your family’s household just to bless them in your honor. Never just connect with others as a fleeting decision. Let it be a connection that will truly impact your life in the way that Christ would desire for it to.
Amen. Thanks Anderia!
Until Next Time
