In 2 Chronicles 20, a guy named Jehoshaphat was told that there was a great multitude coming against him. In verses three and four we see his response.
“3 Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4 And Judah assembled to seek help from the Lord; from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.”
A few things grabbed my attention as I looked at those verses. I saw that he was afraid but I also saw that he prayed. I will also add this, he didn’t pray alone. He was fully present and aware what he was up against and he brought all of that to the one that truly could help him.
We have had a ton go on around the world the last few years and you may be afraid but my encouragement to you today is to pray. I also encourage you not to pray alone. Invite others into what you are feeling and let the church be the church. We pray!
I would love for us to pause and pray together. I will write mine below and would love for you guys to comment what you’re praying specifically in the comment section below this post. Also share this post so we can all call on the name of the Lord together!
God you are our refuge and strength. You are a very present help in times of trouble but also everyday. I pray that our brothers and sisters in Ukraine would tangibly feel your nearness. I pray that they would sense your hand and protection hovering over them even now. Lord, I join the words of Jehoshaphat when he said “we do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you”. There has been a lot going on the past few years and Lord I pray above all that it has returned us to our knees. It’s so easy to be distracted from all we have been privileged to have in our country and we recognize how far we have strayed from your word. Lord have mercy! Heal our Land, Lord! Heal us! I pray over each individual reading this blog even now Lord. I pray that their hearts are being turned back to you in whatever what and whatever area that needs to happen in. You are God. We are not. We surrender. In your hand is power and might and none is able to withstand you. Remind us of who you are Father. You love us so much and you are being more merciful than we can even imagine. Whew…..amen.
Until Next Time
