Who? Me?
Thursday mornings at seven o’clock in the morning I pray with a couple guys at my house. This particular morning was pretty groundbreaking. I was in my normal posture of prayer and then all of a sudden I heard these words as if someone screamed it in my ear. I heard the words “You’re mine!” The words stunned me because that’s such a complex statement in my heart. I felt the Father’s love for me. I felt the authority of that statement also. I just stood in place. I shared with my friend what I had heard and we just began reflecting on the Father’s love for us. We begin just biblically talking through the implications of that statement. Later on that day Isaiah 43:1 came to my mind. It states:
“But now thus says the Lord,
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine”
In this that verse he was talking about the chosen people of Israel but this promise is now true for us in Christ. Also notice the powerful truths of this scripture in where we are created by God, formed by God, redeemed by God and called by our name! What a truth that shakes the foundation of our identity if we allow it to!
Those words should melt my heart. Those words should melt our hearts as believers. Honestly, they don’t more often than not. I find myself longing more for the affirmation of man. I find myself wanting to be seen by those around me. I find myself wanting that “good job” or “atta boy” at the cost of devaluing the words that were spoken over our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Long before Jesus performed any miracles the heavens opened and a voice cried “this is my Beloved Son in whom I’m well pleased.” As followers of Jesus that same voice speaks over us those very words. If that is not enough for us nothing else will ever be enough! I want to encourage you that you were purchased by the precious blood of Jesus. No one will love us more than God. I want you to hear the Father saying to you today “You’re Mine!” Allow that to melt away the insecurities, inadequacies and sin that plagues us all. We are forgiven! We are redeemed! We are free! You belong and are accepted by God. For those who don’t know Jesus as Lord and Savior, that invitation to be forgiven of sin, drafted into his family and living a life on mission is available for you too!
Until next time Fam!
