You hungry?
I was listening to this song “Altar” by Anthony Brown and there was a line in it that said: “I won’t leave until my heart is burning….I will stay at the altar”. Tears begin to fill my eyes as I thought about my life and why I am actually still a Believer. I’ve had most of the popular things happen to me that people leave the Faith for. What was the difference? First and ultimately, it’s the Grace of the Lord Jesus that keeps me from falling away. It’s that Grace that’s also keeping you. I begin to think deeper and this word HUNGER came to mind. I am a hungry, desperate, needy beggar that has tasted the Bread of Life and nothing else now satisfies.
Jesus is the Bread of Life. Jesus is the Living Water. He alone satisfies. I want to ask you a question. Are YOU hungry? Are you craving him? Longing for him? Are you parched without him? Listen! Just because where you are is all you’ve experienced that doesn’t mean that’s all there is. I want to encourage you that there is more. A lot of people know a lot but have never tasted and seen that the Lord is good. I long for people to TASTE.
Matthew 5:6 AMP declares “Blessed [joyful, nourished by God’s goodness] are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness [those who actively seek right standing with God], for they will be [completely] satisfied.”
Jesus wants to satisfy us completely. Let him. Many are defined by what they do, what others think and what they have. Those are very dry and empty wells. Jesus is offering himself, not just something.
Revelation 22:17 ESV “The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.”
True Christianity is about abiding in the Love of our triune God and enjoying him. It’s about living on mission in the new family that the blood of King Jesus purchased for us. When Jesus returns or when we die, the question that will loom over us is did we know him and did he KNOW us. I am begging us to come. I am encouraging us to ask him for more.
Until Next Time
